Hi there!
My name is Gergana.
I recently found my passion for art.
I love to see the world in perfect lighting. I generally believe that’s how it should be remembered. From the light that hits the tops of your cheeks when you smile to a sunset that makes you day dream.
My art is about capturing the light we see all around us and making room for it in our homes.
I was born and raised in Sofia, the capital of a small country in southeast Europa called Bulgaria. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart and we have a son and a daughter.
In 2000 all four of us moved to USA because my husband and I wanted to provide a better future for our kids and allow them to pursue their passions.
I first showed interest in art in high school however my parents could not afford it and would rather encourage me to pursue a career in a field which would allow me to provide for myself.
Life kept me busy, or rather I was keeping myself busy all those years with everything but art until 2011 when we moved to Greenville South Carolina.
Rejuvenating my curiosity in art came by pure chance. I stumbled onto a documentary in which I heard something that really stuck with me: “It all comes down to shapes and shadows”. That motivated me so I grabbed a pencil and just started drawing. Later a friend of mine let me borrow some oil paints to try and I absolutely loved it.
Creating art has been very freeing and fulfilling experience for me. Everything I make is self-taught from a process of playful exploration.
